But why?

I named the line of phone cases "Kame" pronounced: kam-Ay, meaning "turtle" in Japanese and is a metaphor for the shell of a brain (Since our phone are our brains, duh).

  • Every Hikawa case design props up your phone both vertically and horizontally.
  • Every case acts as a grip to better hold your phone.
  • Kame cases are sculptures for your everyday life. We need more art in our lives.
  • Kame is made with impact-resistant material.
  • Kame actually protects your phone.

What is my iPhone model?

You can find your iPhone model number by looking at the small text on the back of the iPhone. There should be something that says "Model AXXXX". Google your model ("Model AXXXX") for model listing.

If you cannot read the text on the back of the iPhone, go into your phone to Settings > General > About > Model. Tap once on Model to reveal the model number.

Does it fit in my pocket?

This is officially the most frequently asked question.

My response: Pocket are all different sizes, so they will fit in some pockets perhaps not others. I want to mention, the standing and gripping features of the Kames out-weigh pocket fit! There are no other phone cases on the market that offer a vertical stand for the case and I can tell you from personal use, I wouldn't trade it to put in my pocket. Every case fits in a tote bag. It's time we have alternate shapes for phone cases for different users and uses, Kame is a small and fun solution to a bigger problem.

Plus, you might make more friends in real life talking about your phone case...

Why are Kame Cases more expensive than other phone cases?

KAME is more expensive than other phone cases because each case is individually hand fabricated and hand-finished from prototype to finished product. It takes about 24 hours to completely fabricate each case. I've developed the materials, designs and fabrication process over the past two years and always, constantly improving the product and design.

Please let me know if you have any questions about the manufacturing process, for now they are indiviudally hand-made to order in my studio in Los Angeles.

How do I care for my Kame?

For best results, wipe your case down regularly. Our phones are in our hands many hours a day and our hands are dirty!

If your KAME case gets dirty try one of these:

  • > Wipe using a cotton ball and isopropyl alcohol or a baby wipe.
  • > Dishwashing soap with a scrubby sponge.
  • > Baking Soda Paste and a toothbrush
  • For other tough stains, please email me at bailey@baileyhikawa.com, as I may have other tricks in the bag.

I want your case to look its best, so please let me know if you aren't sure, I prefer to help you troubleshoot than have a dirty unsightly case.

How to take your Kame ON & OFF

  • > SLIDE your phone into the case, bottom first.
  • > PINCH on the top of your case.
  • > Your KAME should fit snugly on your phone.
  • > See videos below for action

  • > PEEL the top of the case back, and slowly and firmly pull the case away from your phone
  • > or SQUEEZE the sculpture part of the case. Don't force!
  • > SLIDE your phone out of the case

Kame Material

All KAME cases are made from a non toxic elastomer sourced from US distributors. All materials made and sourced in the USA from prototype to finished product.

How protective is the mask?

It's important to know that the fabric itself is protective.

We have labeled each mask with it's fabric makeup so you can better know what fabric is more protective and/or more breathable.

Here is a reference for protective mask material.
